Logan Robert ~ Milwaukee birth photographer

There are times in life when my camera grants me glimpses into peoples’ hearts and souls — moments of love I will never, ever forget. Sometimes, these moments are with strangers or people I’ve just met, but other times, it’s with people I’ve loved for years. This is when my job is no longer work, but pure, simple, nerve-wracking passion.

Nine months back, at the announcement of their pregnancy, my sister- and brother-in-law, Sarah and Michael, asked me to document the birth of their child. I didn’t have the foresight to hire a photographer for Gracey’s birth, and Sarah knew this was one of my regrets. With that, she trusted me completely to document these memories for her. I can’t express enough gratitude for their trust.

Our weekend-long photography journey began with some maternity photos, taken just hours before Sarah went into labor. (And no, she was not in labor, nor expecting to be in labor, during these photos. That would be a very bad idea.) 🙂

I arrived at the hospital just before the sun rose Sunday morning and stayed at Sarah and Michael’s side until beautiful Logan Robert took his first breath. How do you capture two people falling in love with each other all over again. What types of words could ever explain the moment you meet your child. Together, these photos are meant to tell a story completely. They’re meant to remind us all of how true love begins.

Where my fumbling words fall short, may these photos fill in the gaps.

The next photo is a favorite of mine. When Sarah started to push, she started to cry. They weren’t tears of pain, but tears of happiness. The little baby bed was waiting by her side … in just moments, their lives would be forever changed.

Oh my gosh I love him.

Daddy’s first time holding his little man …

And the first of 1 billion kisses …

Welcome to this world, sweet little buddy. You are a tiny, beautiful, precious angel, born into the arms of total, complete love.

xxoo,

Auntie Katie
