Five years ago, I photographed the most beautiful couple as they promised each other forever ~ Caitlin and Mike’s Grain Exchange wedding was one I’ll never forget. But it was the relationship we maintained in the years following their wedding day that means the most to me. I have seen Caitlin and Mike on the dance floors of several other weddings I’ve photographed, having a blast together and cheering on their friends as they say “I Do.” C+M have sent countless referrals my way, and for this, I am forever grateful. A few months back, Caitlin reached out to let me know they were expecting their first child ~ you can IMAGINE my excitement. The happiness I feel when I get to photograph my wedding couple’s babies is unexplainable! It’s a full circle feeling. Gorgeous little Elliot Jean was born, and we scheduled a time for me to come over when she was just a few days old.
But this session wasn’t just about sweet little Elliot. Caitlin and Mike’s beloved Golden Retriever, Miley, was battling bone cancer ~ they told me they’d love nothing more than to capture a few photos with their dog, too. It was hard for Miley to get around when I was there, but that didn’t matter in the least bit ~ you could feel the love C+M have for their best friend, and vice versa. Miley passed away just two days after the photo session, but let me tell you ~ this beautiful dog had the best, fullest life. She was so sweet. Thank goodness she held on to meet Baby Elliot ~ these pictures are such a treasure. This family is the purest example of why I do what I do.
