Baby Owen ~ Milwaukee birth photographer

Family members nervously shuffled in and out of Sara’s room. Geoff paced back and forth between contractions, rubbing Sara’s feet, kissing her twice, expressing how much he loved them both. Their wedding slideshow played in the background, alternating with episodes of “The Golden Girls.”

“When all my friends were watching MTV growing up, I was watching ‘The Golden Girls,'” Sara laughed. It’s her favorite show.

No matter how many hours a birth may last, one thing remains crystal clear to me — it’s an absolute and complete honor to be documenting these moments for people. The magnitude of what these photos will mean in the years to come is never lost upon me. Sara and Geoff waited a long time to meet baby Owen, in both the months leading up to their pregnancy and the days following their due date. Pregnancy and birth doesn’t always come easy, but Sara handled the entire journey with beauty, love and grace. You’ll see … 😉

Sara did a fantastic job laboring the entire day, and although a c-section wasn’t in her plans, it was exactly what little Owen needed to enter this world safe and sound. (A heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses at Elmbrook Hospital, who allowed me into the operating room.)

Adorable, precious, beautiful baby boy …

Mommy and Daddy touch their baby for the first time …

The next few moments touched a soft spot in my heart. From the little time I spent with them, I could sense Sara and her mom have an extremely close relationship. Someday, if my daughter decides to have a child, I will be the mom climbing the walls of the hospital until I know she and the baby are safe and sound. Sara seeing her mom meet her baby …

Love.

Thank you, Sara and Geoff, for inviting me into your lives for this incredibly personal day. You both are blessed beyond measure! xxoo
