Christine and Keane ~ Slinger wedding photographer

A couple weeks before their wedding day, I met up with Christine and Keane for the very first time. The couple was visiting from their home in Michigan to finalize a few last-minute wedding details. In the months prior, Christine had mentioned to me via emails how important the members of their wedding party were — each of the people they chose to stand next to them will be an instrumental part of their lives as the future unfolds. But just weeks before their special day, a twist was put into the mix: Christine’s father was diagnosed with cancer. Suddenly, photos of their loved ones took an even higher priority.

“All the more reason to think through what is really important to capture on our big day,” Christine said.

I’d say I had no idea how she felt, but that would be untrue. I knew every twist in her stomach, every worry in her heart. I knew as joyful of a day it would be, some moments would be bittersweet. And I wanted nothing more than to capture the day for her, just as it was — filled with happy memories of the past and present, but also a day immersed in promises and hope.

They’re a special couple, these two. Unassuming, soft-spoken, kind, perfectly-made-for-each-other. Congratulations to the lucky-in-love’s …

I love the following couple of pictures, but only because I know what these ladies were laughing about. Christine’s mom was reminiscing about the past — college days, old boyfriends, etc., and I couldn’t help but laugh with them behind my lens. 🙂

What can I say, these boys are Badger fans … checking the score on their phones, just minutes before the ceremony. 🙂

Hello fall, I think I love you.

It was a bumpy ride to get to this spot (literally) … but worth it, I’d say.
