Oh Gracey Girl. How do I love you so much.
As Tommy and I go through this amazing journey called parenthood, one thing has become crystal clear: You never know when the “lasts” will be. The last time she needs our help sitting up. The last time she falls asleep in our arms. The last time she prefers to be rocked before bedtime. The last time she fits into that adorable little dress. Or the last time her hair stands straight up. It’s not quite tall enough to lay flat, but it’s just long enough to be absolutely adorable …
Photography is my comfort. Some of you might wonder how these photos of Baby Girl come about. Most of the photos are spontaneous moments, but sometimes, I think about things I know I’ll miss. The little things, like her tiny toes wiggling in the grass or the spiky hair I bury my face into a hundred times a day. I then say to Tommy, “Come outside with me, I need to take a picture I’ve been thinking about.” And so he does. We snap the photo. We laugh about it. I feel a bit better about the whole babies-grow-faster-than-weeds thing. And then, when Gracey goes to sleep at night, I absolutely annoy my husband by sitting next to him on the couch and looking through all her pictures from when she was “little.” Like, all of them, every night. (Bless his heart.)
This afternoon, I’m off to an engagement session and tomorrow, I’ll be heading north for the long-awaited wedding of Jessie and Kyle! 🙂
Have a great weekend!
