“The photo of Lorie and I walking down the path … that’s the only photo I want. Could you somehow get me a copy of that?”
After the ceremony was over, my friend Mel — the matron of honor and sister of the bride — told me her father asked for just one picture. When I heard he made this simple request, my heart melted. If one picture means that much to a dad, I’d give him a hundred copies if I could.
Lorie felt the same. Just before the service began, she was hesitant about holding it outdoors — the rain and wind were getting to be a bit much. But Lorie knew she wanted to walk down the path with her father, she said. It was a memory she wasn’t about to sacrifice.
“This is your day,” her bridesmaids said when Lorie questioned whether guests would be too cold. She stuck her arm out the balcony’s door, and just like that, a decision was made.
Wisconsin, you are no test for a woman in love: Rain just isn’t an issue on the most important day of her life.
A sweet moment when Lorie first saw her dad …
For a (quick) moment here, I wish I had a video camera. During the ceremony, Brandon was rubbing the top of Lorie’s hand — the words “I Do” barely needed to be spoken. 🙂
I just have to sneak in a photo of Mel (pictured below, at center), one of my dearest friends in our early college years. 🙂 Believe it or not, I hadn’t seen Mel since her own wedding, which was approximately six years ago. She’s all grown up now — yet totally the same — and the mother of two adorable little boys. Mel, it was an absolute joy to spend a little time with you at Lorie’s wedding. Sometimes you don’t realize how much you miss people until they’re back in your life once again. I can’t wait for August when Carlie (pictured below, at right) gets married too! 🙂
Congratulations, Lorie and Brandon — you are a beautiful couple! 🙂
