Xavier ~ 1 year photo session ~ Waukesha children’s photographer

Twenty-one weeks, one day. (The “one day” is pretty darn important when you’re pregnant.) Only 132 days to go, according to the pregnancy app on my iPhone — you know, the app that keeps me entertained through unending sleepless nights …

Last night, around 3 a.m. or so, I wandered away from my pregnancy app and started looking at photos of nursery themes. GIRL nursery themes, to be exact. 🙂 For whatever reason — likely due to the myriad of issues I’ve had — it’s been hard to begin actual preparations for our newborn. Not hard as in too-much-work, but hard as in, will-this-all-end-happy? It’s difficult to admit, but that’s where I’m at. I want this baby so badly; I pray for her every hour of every day … and yet somehow, the physical pain I’m experiencing seems to trump the reality of our desired end result: A happy, healthy little girl.

I haven’t quite pieced together exactly what I do want adorning our nursery, but I know a handful of things I don’t: Our baby’s room will not be 20 different shades of Pepto Bismol, there will be no painted murals of jungle animals on the walls, and I won’t be putting any sticker decals of her name above the crib. (If people don’t know her name, they probably shouldn’t be in our nursery …)

I’m thinking contemporary, feminine, uncluttered and pretty. Nothing too cheeky or cute … our baby will be cute enough. 🙂

Today, I wanted to share a few more shots from a recent 1-year-old session. (Check out the first pic I posted from last week’s Friday’s Frame.) I had so much fun with this little guy! His smiles never end. And his mama already knows how much I’m in love with him, so no need to gush anymore …

The birthday present above and the cake below? These were both Xavier’s mom’s ideas! And I loved them. I’m not one to push a cake in your child’s face for every 1-year session I do, but hey, if you bring it, we’ll have tons of fun. 🙂

Happy Birthday, little man!
