Alison and Peter ~ American Club wedding

“Hang onto your forks,” Alison’s uncle said at the start of his toast to the newly married couple. Alison and Peter grabbed their forks.

It was something his mom always told the family as she cleared the dinner plates from the table, he explained.

“And we all knew what that meant, right? It meant the best is yet to come — dessert.”

“Everyone says your wedding day is the best day of your lives,” he continued. “But I’m here to tell you — hold onto your forks. The best is yet to come.”

I love a good toast. Toasts so good they should have charged admission. The best man said some of the most sincere yet hilarious words I’ve ever heard, and the matron of honor had the entire room roaring in laughter. But when Alison’s uncle told the pair, “The best is yet to come,” my heart skipped a beat. Truer words have never been spoken. (But shhh, don’t tell anyone else that little secret … I’m a wedding photographer, y’all.)

Alison and Peter, your day was brilliant. The American Club is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful venues in the state — it’s entirely representative of the respect and love you both share for each other. It’s not just the gorgeous courtyard, the beautiful front lawn, the spectacular ballroom or the amazing food — I’d be hard-pressed to find a place where guests are treated with a higher level of class.

Thank you, once again, for choosing me to document your special day. I smiled almost as much as you while I watched your love unfold. 🙂
