Friday’s Frame ~ The in-between

Gracey_Home004

I take photos to remember moments — moments and facial expressions and personality traits that aren’t always perfectly-dressed or lit with beautiful golden light. Life happens during the in-between, and the in-between is a beautiful place.

Two years into raising a toddler, who would have thought I’d become a bit nostalgic about our alone time with Baby Girl. Soon, there will be two more blessings in our home — two more sweet babies for us all to love. But the past few weeks, I’ve been breathing in our Gracey Girl a bit deeper, cherishing our quiet hugs, books in bed, extra “I love you’s” and final moments as a family of three. As she wraps her tiny arms around our necks — as she buries her face into mine at 5:30 a.m. — I’m constantly reminded of what an absolute gift it is to be her mama.

This week I spent a little time photographing Gracey at home — just the three of us. She loves to run around in her diaper and yes, those are three Hello Kitty clips in her hair. And have I mentioned we “color” about 19 times a day?

This is her talking to her baby brothers. “Mama I love them,” she says. (Yes, it’s over-the-top sweet, but I have absolutely no disillusions about how long it will last.) 🙂
